have always tried to keep my politics, and politics in general, off the board since typically it's not germane to the task at hand...i guess this is a special scenario but still would prefer not to get too heavy-handed...suffice it to say that for these two pronouncements to come at such a crucial juncture in the congressional process is very suspicious and raises the obvious question that there was serious horse-trading, quid pro quo, whatever you want to call it...we know that is going on, it's a given and acog, the ama, all of them, have for many many years demonstrated what they are actually all about, although they try to appear objective and selfless, it's quite the opposite and that's a fact...not to mention that it plays directly into the main talking points on the right and gave them some very powerful ammo to try to derail what is perceived as being possibly very detrimental to the livelihoods of those under the umbrella of acog, and more broadly, the status quo for all of medicine...it's a topic i could go on about at length but shouldn't and won't! suffice it to say that friday before today's vote is just too cute...have you ever heard of anyone announcing anything important on a friday?
looking at pb61 and the virtually inexplicable lost opportunity to codify what they have already said, on that specific issue, dwip every three years, after much reflection the only possible explanation i can come up with is that case law to date is based on missed cytology...any outright "guideline" that stated cytology isn't as good is just too much of a legal pandora's box (for the 70 percent who ain't doin' it 6 years later)...once again, sacrifice the patients, protect yourself and your rank and file...no brainer for these guys and gals...and to a person they took the hippocratic oath..thought that meant something....there are many who know what the right thing to do is, and i've heard it from their lips, but they have shown time and again they are too spineless to push for it...might endanger their other consulting and speaker's bureau gigs that they've moved on to, or might get blowback from the m$%^& who aren't terribly interested in doing what's right....jmho...human nature but sad
