Cash the new Gold      8-Nov-09 09:18 AM
As far as i am concerned Cash is the new GOLD even the old Gold, as you need cash to buy Gold after all, so to say Gold is safer than cash is madness, when Gold falls, let's see how quickly you can sell it, yet while i still hold cash it will buy me alot more in a years time, it's buying me alot more than it would last year, so don't believe the hype, M

Re: Cash the new Gold      8-Nov-09 09:35 AM
You could use Gold to buy Gold Marco. Cash is great with DEFLATION, buy lots more things later. But Gordon does not want you holding cash, or Gold, in fact he may later if his Stalinist State persists (unlikely), send the Stasi after all Savers and Holders of Gold. Consumers with m$%^& of credit and no savings could of course become Stasi Informers .....

Good answer Louis. I,ve given you 5stars.

It's not likely but the point you make is exactly right. Economic Totalitarism! ( is that how you spell it?)

Aah but Louis i have no intention of swapping my English £s for Euros dollars or otherwise, i will buy English property with English money, in stead of foreign Gold being ramped to death watch it fall out of the sky soon enough, then everyone will be left holding Gold that will be only worth half of it's current value.M

Re: Cash the new Gold     22-Nov-09 04:06 PM
Crikey M do you realise there are those on here (guess which IDs) building up little piles of gold for the coming economic Armagedon. What you said will scare them stiff! Come to think about it they are probably the very same people - who held RBS just as it crashed - the very same people who bought a house on a Mortgage in late 2007, and had their Current Account in Northern Rock. And no they dont have a Volkswagen! I hope the Gold Crash does not finish them off ...

Re: Cash the new Gold HAHA ARE YOU STUPID OR WHAT      9-Nov-09 10:45 AM
CASH IS BUYING YOU MORE THAN LAST YEAR MMM. WELL SOME THINGS ARE CHEAPER(EVEN MORESO IN GOLD) BUT LETS LOOK AT THE POUND it has lost 30% on the euro and has lost 5% purchasing power on comodites as well. in fact the government have a sweet deal called inflation which burns away your purchasing power. which is why gold has gone up against all world currencies 8 years in a row so how the $%^& is your cash going to buy you more this year than next year when we have zero interest rates high inflation and a falling pound. am i missing something here, IS THIS SOUR GRAPES GOLD HAS NOW GONE OVER $1100 THUS SHOWING ITS NOT DEPENDANT ON S$%^& SALES, THE DOLLAR OR ANYTHING ITS A FLIGHT TO QUALITY. SO KEEP THE DEPRECIATING TOILET PAPER I PREFER SOMETHING TANGIBLE.
PS
GOLD AT ALL TIMES IN ALL PLACES ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE MONEY.
ALL FIAT CURRENCY EXPERIMENTS HAVE FAILED. AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.

Cash and Gold what rubbish the only investments worth buying are investment grade bonds ...I note the COOP sub bonds which were Britannia PIbs have increased 20% in value over the last few months and give me a yield of 9-10%......does your cash do likewise?.......I though bank interest is between 1-4%??? and as for Gold it is just pure speculation and inevitably when the major sellers and hedge funds fret and worry it will drop like a stone
just take care

I really do not understand how people think Recovery will make things better for them. Take these people:
Anyone with a Mortgage will see a stiff rise in Interest Rates and be WORSE OFF.
Anyone in the Public Sector will find a stringent Wage Freeze and be WORSE OFF.
Anyone making cars will find S$%^&page has ended, demand has collapsed, and be WORSE OFF.
Anyone with Gold will see it crash and be WORSE OFF.
Anyone in work will find National Insurance will go up and be WORSE OFF.
Anyone who is a Consumer, and feels the need to consume, will be hit by huge Indirect Tax increases (Governments leave highly politically sensitive Income Tax alone) and be WORSE OFF.
Big Energy and Oil price increases on the Recovery will mean everyone is WORSE OFF.
So it will not feel like Recovery ...

Exceptions of course will be myself and Marco because we are both ... rich ...

Money doesn't buy happiness or friends. Something you clearly lack judging by the time you spend on thee boards. Maybe you should work at getting a life?

Your threads certainly aren't going anywhere!! Tit.
