I'm sure it all hurt very much.

However others went through similar pain and humiliation in the days of the Roman Empire with only faith in their beliefs that it would be rewarded in death but no way of really knowing.

Jesus knew, so he sucked it up, and knew that in a couple of human days he would be in paradise.

Those who just relied on faith had a harder task, in my humble opinion.
