From my own personal experience, 'extreme' weather in the winter months in the UK seem to be getting more frequent and worse.

Now that could be for one of 3 reasons or a combination in my mind:

1. GW
2. Solar activity
3. Some sort of observer effect

But I've always been of the mind, better to do something about it and be wrong; than do nothing and be right.

Besides the oil will run out one day, unless we start running our economy on fossilised ancestors.
