Who Has Darling in their Pocket?     22-Nov-09 04:00 PM
On 26 0ctober National Savings & Investments launched a fixed rate one year bond at 3.95%. gross and following protests from the ‘bankers’ this product was closed by 19 November.
Forget the ‘bankers’ bonus debate and consider who is running this Governments economic policy and the covert manipulation that prevails. Not only did the ‘bankers’ get bailed out with tax payer’s cash they also want to manipulate our savings to protect their margins.

Who has Darling in their pocket? Eh whoever turns out to be his employer when Nu Liebore get turffed out at election. He needs to be making provision for himself post election, it would be ridiculous to expect the poor fool to do anything less. Afterall, he's got a high standard of living to sustain.

Good points Paul and Obi. Also just why on earth are Brown and Darling giving Lloyds more money in this new rights issue? Its diluiting the public stake for no return!

The government is the biggest shareholder in Lloyds, should they not demand that the government stake stay at 43% without any additional money, just why is the government giving them another £5.5billion for nothing? The government should NOT have to spend more money in this rights issue to defend its stake!!!

In fact the government stake should be more like 70% for the money already pumped in. In fact HBOS should have been nationalised, but that is another matter entirely, secret loans are an absolute disgrace!

It seems whatever Gordon Brown touches turns not to gold but to a darker shade of turd.

Paul
Agree with your points and if the media is to be believed today it was primarily Nationwide who cribbed about the NSI products as billons were withdrawn from their savings accounts paying paltry interest to preserve their margins.
So the banks and BS’s are dictating economic policy, not the elected government and the un elected crash Gorgan and his cronies who, as DB64 observes, are looking beyond the next election when they get chucked out, but will the blue mob lead by Lord Snooty do any better? I am not holding my breath!

OW,

"will the blue mob lead by Lord Snooty do any better? I am not holding my breath! "

Like you I doubt it very much, trouble is our politicians are now professional career politicians who are just playing a self serving game of politics lining their own pockets. For example the EU is just a wonderland made for the political cl$%^& at our expense. None of them with any real chance of power has anything different to offer - just the next lot's turn coming round.

But we, society, sadly get the politicians we deserve.
